Pienza

The little village of Pienza is also known as the city of Pope Pius II, who wished to transform his humble native town into the perfect Renaissance city. The result is surprisingly beautiful.

Located in a strategic position at the top of a hill, Pienza dominates the entire Valle d’Orcia with breathtaking panoramas. The historic centre is one of the highest expressions of Renaissance style, created by order of the great humanist Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who became Pope Pius II.
